Responsible gambling for Australian players

Gambling should cost you only what you can afford to lose and only the time you chose to spend. This page lists the Australian services that help when that stops being true, and the practical controls that keep it true.

Help right now — Australia (24/7)

  • Gambling Help Online: free phone, chat, and email counselling. Call 1800 858 858 or visit gamblinghelponline.org.au.
  • Lifeline (crisis / suicidal thoughts): call 13 11 14 or text 0477 13 11 14.
  • BetStop national self-exclusion register: betstop.gov.au — free, binding on all Australian-licensed online wagering operators for three months to lifetime.

Quick self-assessment

If you answer "yes" to two or more of the questions below, we strongly recommend contacting Gambling Help Online before your next deposit anywhere — including Realz Casino or any site we cover:

  • Have you borrowed money, sold possessions, or missed bills to fund gambling in the last three months?
  • Have you gambled longer than you planned in at least three of the last ten sessions?
  • Have you hidden the amount you gambled, or the fact that you gambled, from a partner or family member?
  • Have you chased losses — increasing stake size or session length to recover earlier losses?
  • Have you gambled to cope with stress, low mood, or sleeplessness rather than for entertainment?
  • Has gambling affected your work, study, caring responsibilities, or sleep?
  • Have you promised yourself you would stop and then started again within two weeks?

This is a simplified prompt based on common problem-gambling screening instruments. It is not a diagnostic tool. A professional counsellor at Gambling Help Online can work through a proper assessment with you confidentially and at no cost.

Practical controls you should set before you deposit

Offshore casinos, including Realz Casino, typically offer weaker responsible-gambling tooling than Australian-licensed operators. You should therefore build your own controls before registration. The time to do this is when you are calm and solvent, not after a losing session.

Deposit limit

Decide a weekly and a monthly cap in AUD that, if lost entirely, would not change your ability to pay rent, food, bills, or savings. Write it down. For most Australians a weekly cap in the low hundreds of dollars is already at the upper end of entertainment spend. If the operator supports deposit-limit settings, enable them. If it does not, use your bank's gambling block or a low-limit debit card dedicated to the activity.

Session time limit

Set a timer on your phone before each session. Fifteen-minute and thirty-minute caps are common defaults. If the operator offers session reminders, enable them. Treat the timer as a hard stop, not a suggestion.

Loss limit

Decide the loss level at which you will close the session and not reopen the site that day. A common heuristic is 50% of your deposit. If you hit it, stop. The single most reliable predictor of a catastrophic session is an attempt to chase losses back to break-even.

Self-exclusion

If controls are not holding, self-exclude. At Realz Casino self-exclusion is currently only available through customer support — email [email protected] and request a minimum six-month self-exclusion with no reversal window. In parallel, register on BetStop so Australian-licensed operators are also blocked.

Bank-level blocks (strongly recommended)

Australian banks offer gambling transaction blocks at no cost. These prevent any new gambling charge on your card or account, and most impose a cooling-off period before they can be removed:

  • Commonwealth Bank — 48-hour cool-off to disable
  • NAB — 48-hour cool-off
  • Westpac — 48-hour cool-off
  • ANZ — 72-hour cool-off (CardControl app)
  • ING — 24-hour cool-off (Everyday Round Up section of the app)

A bank-level block is the single most effective tool for Australian players because it interrupts deposits regardless of which offshore operator you use.

Content boundaries on this site

We do not promote gambling to under-18s or to people on the BetStop register. Our outbound affiliate links are tagged so browser parental-control filters can identify them. If you are recovering from problem gambling, close this site now — do not scroll further, and consider installing Gamban or a similar gambling-blocker on every device you use.
